So, basically, I downloaded the app yesterday and made a new panel for Elite: Dangerous. So today when I wanted to continue my work, I didn't found the PanelsApp.exe to start the program. I only had PanelsDesktop.exe, which was the installer. So I tried installing it and it failed. And my question is, where the .exe file is so I can attach it to my task bar.

If you've installed the Panels Desktop client, you should see it in the Start menu now. If you'd like to pin it to the task bar, I'd suggest you pin it from there by "right clicking" the Panels Desktop program in the start menu an "Pin to Taskbar". That should work. o7

I dont see it, but I analyzed the error log that pops up when I'm trying to install it. There were following error messages (translated from German to English, so it may be not the same words) :
Acces denied (Exception of HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
Any help is welcome, tryddle out.

That's very strange. I would suggest uninstalling the application altogether from Control Panel, and trying to download and install again. Something may have been corrupted during the installation process.

(created account btw) So, as you proposed, I uninstalled the application, e.g. in my case that I deleted all the files with PanelsApp in their name. I tried to install it, but the same error as last time occured.

I tried to install it, but the same error as last time occured. To uninstall it completely you really should use the Control Panel. This kind of application is handled by Windows and just deleting the folders alone might not be enough to let Windows know that it has been uninstalled. I haven't seen this kind of error before so I just want to make sure that it isn't something related to that. Sorry for the trouble! o7

No problem, I've got time. But somehow the app doesn't show up on the Control Panel. (I looked at P and there was only the multi-targeting pack 4.6, it was at P because in German the word starts with P)

Have you tried downloading and running the installer again (instead of using the one that was previously downloaded) from www.panelsapp.io If after that it still doesn't work, it seems as though the user you're logged in as doesn't have the necessary permissions somehow. Does your logged in user have admin rights on your computer?

When I first tried to reinstall PanelsApp I already did download a new installer. And I'm 100% sure that I have admin permissions, because I'm the only user on my PC.

So I tried again to reinstall it, same error as always. I attached the error log to this reply and also tried to translate the error log from German to English, so it's easier for you: Some notes: at ERROR SUMMARY FOR THE MEMORY TRANSACTION OF COMPONENTS There is a huge list. I didn't translate all of it, but only the first entry. All following entries would be translated like the first one. at COMPONENTS' MEMORY TRANSACTION DETAILS there's also a huge list, and each entry is structured like this: + System.Deployment.Internal.Isolation.StoreOperationStageComponent - State: Installed - HRESULT: 0x0 - Manifest: 9NKWLKNX.K3P.application In some entries Manifest is replaced with the German word for file "Datei" . Also, instead of State, there is "Status" in each entry, because I was too lazy to edit it So, yeah, hope you can do anything with this additional information, CMDR tryddle out, o7 Attachments:log_file - English.txt (79.49 KB)

Thanks for the extra info. I did some research yesterday and this morning. Can you try this?
Back up the contents of this folder
C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0
and delete them from that directory. Then go ahead and attempt to reinstall the application? The reinstallation process should recreate these files. There's certainly a "permissions" issue somewhere, and a couple of sources have suggested this solution.
Thanks! o7

Only quick question. When I assign key bindings to my buttons, how can I correctly add combinations like Alt+R for example? In my case, depending on how I press the keys it's either {LALT down}{LALT up}{r up} or {LALT down}{ up}{LALT up}.

In my case, depending on how I press the keys it's either {LALT down}{LALT up}{r up} or {LALT down}{ up}{LALT up}. Are you using the key recording option? To the right of the keybindings texbox, there's a "Record" button. If you click that, you can just press the key combinations and have them be recorded in the correct format. Then just click "Done"
